A further larval host plant and notes on the biology of the Australian jewel beetle, Nascio vetusta (Boisduval)(Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

Paper No: 220

Abstract: A new larval host plant, Eucalyptus viminalis Labill. (Myrtaceae), is recorded for the Australian jewel beetle, Nascio vetusta (Boisduval) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae: Buprestinae). The larval/pupal chambers are described and illustrated. No other buprestids have been recorded from E. viminalis. Noscio vetusta has been recorded breeding only in the myrtaceous genera Eucalyptus and Metrosideros, indicating first degree oligophagy.
